No but with all of this mess still unresolved who would buy one?

If you live in a state that doesn't have exhaust check every year they might be a really good buy right now. Or better yet, go to CA where there might be a problem registering it, make low ball offer and bring it back to a state like TX.  ;)

Hmmmm.   I wonder if I should do that with car tires, car oils, car filters, BMWs, and wabbits?

What's wrong with wabbits?    ???

I'm pretty sure that it's going to be a federal issue and that all the registered VW diesels will have to be 'fixed'.

I loved my 78 diesel Wabbit. Max speed was about 80 mph but it got 57 mpg in town. I put an aux tank in the spare tire well for a total of 20 gal and drove it once from San Jose CA to Grants NM without stopping for fuel.

I got my Goodwill package in the mail too. It looks like accepting this limits your ability to sue them. You can only go through arbitration in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. So I am still hoping that they also make up the difference that the car values lost after all this. Approaching $3000 at this point.

I'm pretty sure that the standard language in fine print you're talking about refers to the terms of use for the credit card.

First line of the fine print.

"Affected customers eligible for the Goodwill Package are not required to waive their rights or release their claims against Volkswagen in order to receive the package."

I read a lot of different articles about the Goodwill Offer. They all sounded a lot like this one.

I paid a visit to the local VW dealer yesterday and activated my two $500 cards plus the 3 year roadside assistance. It was painless.    :)

I hope so. April 21st is the new deadline. Some have mentioned they may be ordered to buy them all back. Hopefully for better than ACV/ Bluebook values like Dodge Rams just offered last year. My Bluebook value took about a $6000 hit compared to the other cars I had. I was trading them in every year. This year wasn't doable.

Finally!!!!

As of yesterday the word is out on what's going to happen with VW diesels.

If your car is effected the first thing to do is to find the numbers here.

https://www.ftc.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/att._1a_-_buyback_modification_table.pdf

Then you go here to find out what your mileage adjustment is.

https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/cases-proceedings/162-3006/volkswagen-group-america-inc

The two choices are, keep your car along with some cash from VW and wait for a fix that will degrade the cars performance (no one knows how much as the fix is still in the works). Or you can sell it back to VW.

For my car after running the numbers (if I did the calculations right). 2012 Jetta Sportwagen w/nav & sunroof, DSG ~ 41k miles. If I keep the car and wait for a fix, VW will pay me $6,500. If I sell it back to VW they'll pay me $24k.

What would you do? I'm leaning toward selling it back.
