Humbled, humiliated but able to laugh afterward.
« on: April 13, 2013, 06:04:55 PM »
Great ride up a great road in SoCal's Santa Monica Mountains (up Mulholland) this morning. There was a major bicycle ride taking place and I saw many riders I know including the bunch I work with. I attemped a u-turn on a 3% hill but couldn't make it in one move so I stopped and as I started to push the bike back, well you guessed it. As it started over I remembered what a friend had said a long time ago about big heavy bikes, "When they start to go over you might slow it down but you ain't gonna save it." There it is in the middle of the road on it's side. This is when I also remembered a You Tube video wherein a women showed you how to pick up a big bike without slipping a disc. Her mentod worked really well and the bike was up moments after it hit the deck. This all took place right in front of a photographer who shoots pictures at this spot every weekend (Rock Store Photos). So of course he is snapping pictures and my bicycle buddies are riding back to see if I am okay. Why am I able to smile? Because the Canyon Cages are the only things to get a scratch! Can hardly wait for the pictures to appear on website.
If it can't be fixed with a hammer you can sure as hell teach it a lesson.

DOH!!! Glad to hear the canyon cages worked as expected. Do you also have the small rear guards from MCE?

Noticed something in one of the photos Paul did post of me. It's the 'after' shot and if you look real close at the Canyon Cages front and rear you can see the scuffs from the tip over.

Take a Sharpie to it.  ;D

In picture 113 on that site it looks like the left Canyon Cage has a small scuff on it as well.

It is great to know these things do the job they were built for.
