Depends on your perspective.  Back in the 30's and before, this was a thriving town and this is one of the nicer 'abandoned' buildings.  Behind me are railroad tracks where my grandfather and his father in law were killed trying to 'beat' a train to a crossing.  They were both dead drunk at the time.

I hope not but one never knows..  I didn't have the courage to look in the building.

:yikes: I've certainly seen lots of movies with people trying to beat a train to a crossing, but this is the first time I've heard of actual people trying and failing to do it. How long ago did this happen?

My ex's grandfather was hit by a train, long ago in Sicily.  The claim was he was hard of hearing and didn't know the train was coming.  Some say it had to do with the Cosa Nostra, as this happened in Alia, a town outside Palermo.  No one knew for sure or much discussed the past from the old country.

Here's proof the Connie is back home...

It happens ALL the time! I am an Engineer, and have been involved in many crossing accidents where people thought they could beat the train. It is not worth the risk because I win all ties. The images of peoples final moments are burned into my brain forever.

Well I just started riding again a few weeks ago after breaking my leg in May of this year.

I finally got the tires changed and a few more Farkles added that were ready to go on before my accident.

So here is the latest picture of her.....

My C14 isn't getting any prettier, but sometimes I'm able to find better backgrounds  :)

Man, that's some beautiful scenery.  Mind saying where those were taken?  Sadly, nothing down here like that.  tomp

Awesome! I've done a lot of roads in UT but have never ridden Mount Nebo Scenic Byway. Maybe next summer.

Mine. 2012. Purchased it used about a year ago. I did all the mods.
Has my little "day" rear bag on it. For the long, long trips I also have my Givi monokey top case and Givi tank bag. Of course I do like to ride it "naked" around town, also with no bags on it. 8)
I have it hard wired for my cell with a RAM X grip mount and I upgraded from my Nuvi to a Garmin 595 (I am SO glad I did, save up, its worth it!) on a Ram brake reservoir mount. I have it wired through a two way waterproof trailer plug so I can completley remove the mount from the bike when I don't need it.
Everything is wired through a Rowe PDM with a Skeen auto dimmer on my landing....I mean my running lights.

Congrats.... You live in Austin, or passing thru?  Interesting town.  Lived there in 70-71.  Not the same place today.
