Lowering Link/Centerstand
« on: April 03, 2013, 10:29:29 AM »
I got a lowering link from Norm and installed it last night.
For anyone that has done this, how much did you cut off the center stand?
I am going to have to have this done as I can't weld well enough that I'd trust my +500# bike to it.  So I'd like to get an idea of what anyone else has cut off to discuss with the welder.

I'll post some pics after I get them off my phone and edit them.

TIA

EDIT
Best laid plans...

I had planned to pull the center stand and take it to a shop to have them cut some material out of the middle so the mounting end and the foot end stayed the same.  But it looks like a bear to get the bolt out on the left side.  So I am just going to grind some material from the foot area then weld in new pads for feet.

The only tools I needed were a drift pin to push out the bolts, a breaker bar, 17 and 18 mm sockets with ratchet and a grease gun.
