DOT 5 does not attack paint.
I've been fine not taking systems apart and doing a double plus flush; but how easy is it to take one of our systems apart?
In fact DOT 5 can be said to be good for both paint and plastics alike; the plastics will in fact look much better when wiped down with an oily DOT 5 rag....
You can really clean a brake system with nothing more than denatured alcohol and/or non-chlorinated brake cleaner and compressed air.
