H4 bulb retainer
« on: May 11, 2016, 02:19:03 PM »
I am trying to add one of those LED bulbs to my Connie.  Cannot seem to get the retaining clip to attach, in fact I can't make it work at all, even without a bulb in there.  Any recommendations for a replacement clip??

Have you checked to see if the clip is bent out of shape? If one side is bent it will not line up with the retaining ring.

The hinge point is sloppy from the factory. I recall I crimped the sheet metal hinge knuckle with pliers 'many moons' ago. Easier, but still a PITA to retain a bulb replacement.

The wire bail is a medium spring steel. Unless you hork it up with a vice grip and pry bar, it should fit.

There is no replacement that I know of. But you might be able to bend something out of a heavy duty paper clip, *if* you have time, and *if* you have a ready supply of happy drugs.
