OEM Seat Compatability
« on: February 24, 2013, 06:05:31 PM »
I like the black seat that comes with later year C14. My 2009 seat is a 2 tone, grey black.

Can you let me know if a 2010-2012 seat will fit and work on my 2009?

I would be interested in getting one from someone that upgrades to a Corbin or other aftermarket supplier.

Yes. They are the same, and a ZX14 seat will fit also. There are usually plenty of ZX seats on ebay for cheap, compared to what a Connie stock seat brings.

From what I have read, they are the same seat pan, but with a lower, more sport oriented cover and foam. Some folks buy a used ZX seat, to send off to a custom seat maker. That way, their stock seat will remain intact. ZX14 seats are much better looking seats than the stock Connie seat, in My opinion.

And way less comfortable to most people. I put a concours seat on my 14 and what a difference.

You put a 14 seat on your 14 or your 14?

The aftermarket ones tend to be a little trickier. I put a Sargent C14 seat on my ZX14 and it doesn't quite fit. The aftermarket pans are different as there really isn't much of a way to put the zx14 hardware on the seat. There are also gaps between the seat and the body.

I have a ZX seat I bought to use while Spencer had mine.  It snapped right into place and came back off as easily.  I could be (very easily) persuaded to part with it...

Thanks everyone.

I am picking up a 2011 black on black seat early next week. Now maybe I can take a break from 'extras' this year and enjoy my c14 riding!

Bought the 2009 in late November. So far: changed engine oil/filter, rear differential oil, air filter, repainted gas tank to remove scratch, handle bar extenders and wedges, TechSpec gas tank protectors, and now going black on black for a seat.

I am really enjoying riding the c14! This time I came from a 2005 Yamaha Vmax Anniversary Edition (which I still have). So far I like most the power, the 6th gear, riding position, and wind deflection. In Oklahoma we get wind and the windshield and fairing work to deflect it great. The Vmax is naked and after riding the c14 then getting right back on the Vmax and riding it, well these 55 degree days are cold on it, lot colder than c14.
