I run Shell Rotella 15w40. I've never used synthetic oil in any of my Concours. I have had no cam pitting and no oill related failures, bike shifts wonderful, and I have put a few miles on the Concours I've owned. Run what you want, spend what you want I find conventional motor oil works just fine.

I'm using extra virgin olive oil - it's supposed to be better for you.

Could you use a balsamic vinegar as an additive?

I use the one in the plastic bottle.  But I use it often (every 2500 miles)

I'm running straight WD-40 in mine.  I use it to keep the brakes from squeaking and it works great to shine the plastic and the tires too!

Mine seems to have more performance when it doesn't have oil in it... Must be all the drag from the oil.... I think i am just going  to run it like that from now on.

Rotella 15-40 every 3k, and filter every other time (6k).
Real men have tire irons, and use them.

Rotella T6 synthetic 5w40 from Kragen.

Is Kragen's better?

I was buying Walmart Rotella T6 Synthetic, but then my local Walmart stopped carrying it, so I was buying it from Checker, but they changed their name to Reilly (Reilly bought Checker a few years back, and they are just getting around to changing the signs).  So I guess I have Reilly Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic.

Dunno if that's better than Kragen T6 or not...
 ;D

All kidding aside, I'm VERY happy with this oil.  Smooth shifts, and no issues I'm aware of.  5w when it's cold means it distributes more quickly through the engine, and builds up to a decent viscosity (40) as it warms.  Plus, I like it when my mechanic friend teases me about putting Truck oil in a bike...

I used to work in a Honda Shop in the 80's and my brother used to come hang around on his time off; he said the new bikes stunk like a fish factory when I was test riding them.

I actually tried the Walmart brand racing 4T this time to see how it does compared to name brands.
