Ok, this will most likely be my last reply to this thread. The following is a reply from Chaparral  in answer to my request asking them to let me know when the Shinko SE890 front tire was in stock. This is not a rant, I'm just passing on the info just in case one of Y'all might want to purchase that particular tire.

"Unfortunately, we will not be able to let you know about the SE890. We do not see what shipments come into the warehouse across the street and this particular tire needs to be ordered first, we will not be receiving any extra for stock right now."
Seems that they manage to sell all the ones they stock.  I wonder what their logic is for not ordering any "extra".

Sounds like a case of one department not knowing what another department is doing...I would bet they have some on order...the problem is their supplier is sold out right now... :'(

I just got an email from Shinko. 120 front tires are to be delivered this week (Is that all?!!!!!).  Anyhow, contact "Western Power Sports) part #87-4661.

Sorry, in Ohio right now and no computer, only my iPhone. I'll see if I can come up with a number to call.

I personally think the 890 has a better 'feel' on the rear than the GT's.  I only expect nothing but smiles from you with a full set.

Looks promising, except you forgot to put you credit card info with it.  Geez how do you expect me to get a set of tires?

I finally got mine on and did a short "around the block" ride.  (Around the block is 4.5 miles...)  The tires felt good, but I'll need more time to evaluate.  I had also modified the front fork springs, so I have a bunch going on with the bike all at once.  I'm headed out for a weekend of riding tomorrow afternoon, and I'll report in a couple of times during the weekend.

I did notice the bike felt taller, but I had a stock size rear tire with a Wing size front mounted previously.  Plus the fork mod, it probably was quite a bit higher.

Well, I'm a few weeks on this set (005 front, SE890 rear) and I don't have anything negative to report. Still don't have any miles in the rain yet, but so far, so good. As far as I can tell, a fantastic value, and, any miles beyond 5,000 on the rear is a bonus.

Well, I did about 50 miles on the 890s this afternoon.  Mostly on the interstate.  I noticed that the bike danced around a bit in the wake of tractor-trailers, but otherwise things were wonderful.  I did set the rear dampening to the 2 setting where I normally had it at 3, so that may have been some of the difference, plus the modified fork springs.  I'll reset the dampening tomorrow and see how things go.
