New to forum not the bike
« on: November 27, 2020, 03:49:00 AM »
Only recently joined from Brisbane Australia.
Had a '97 ten years ago, now I've got a 2002.

Welcome!!
Can you tell us a bit about riding in Australia?
The country is huge. Where do you primarily ride?

I mainly ride within a 500km radius of Brisbane when I do ride. Last big ride was with my nephew around 10 years ago, we went to New South Wales. Which was a round trip of about 1300 km's, which I think is about 800m in your money.

Ok, thanks. Are you riding the highway system, or backroads?
I know nothing about the area near Brisbane..
And there mountains (and twisties ) for you to enjoy?

Yes, we are very close to Mt Nebo, and Mt Glorious both are very twisty roads and popular with motorcycle riders of all sorts. A lot of road racers get on both of them, cars and bikes. I first did Mt Glorious on an old Honda CX650 Euro. It's a V-twin much like the Moto Guzi's. Went with my nephew who nearly passed out as he was so caught up in the ride he literally forgot to breathe on the twisties. Last time I was up there I took my '97 GTR1000 (ZG1000), the roads were wet but I had new tyres and the bike loved it. So did I!
Got to throw a new back tyre on before I take the '02 GTR up there.
Look up Mount Glorious Road, Queensland on Google maps and zoom out you'll see how twisty it can get. You'll also see Mt Nebo Rd in yellow near it.
