Title: It's so cute! 1.0 L Ecoboost engine for 2014 Ford Fiesta
Post by: Two Skies on November 20, 2012, 11:30:38 AM
The engine, not the car, is what I'm calling 'cute'.  Apparently it even fits in carry on luggage, although I don't know what the NTSA thinks about transporting engines in the passenger cabin...

Of course, our older Connies also have 1.0L engines (997 cc to be exact), although the new Ford engine is apparently rated at 123 HP and 148 lb.-ft of torque at a mere 1400 RPM...

The 1.6L Duratorq EDCi Euro Diesel variant engine would be the one I would want, though (assuming I would even want a Fiesta in the first place, I'm more of a truck/land yacht kinda guy)... that particular version of the Fiesta is rated at 65 MPG(!), but thanks to EPA regs it won't pass current U.S. Emission standards as I understand.

Wait a few years, its coming. The 1.0 is just the start of some really small motors coming here, they have no choice with the CAFE ratings going up with the recent 54mpg standards to be met by 2025 which isn't to far away at all in the car making world. I would imagine when gas goes sky high we'll certainly see Diesels here. We are looking at getting a Fiesta next year, hopefully with the 1.0.

One day America will wake up and see the value of diesel.

When gas goes sky high and Diesel is even higher.
My son just traded in his 2012 Focus. said it was underpowered and got no better mileage than his 04 Impala with the 3.8 V6.

He got a F150 Crew cab King Ranch......

Obama and his crew have stated diesel is too dirty, considering global warming and all.

We will never see the value of Diesel...not with all those locomotives, tow/tugboats, heavy equipment, semi trucks....

If I was in the market, I'd buy many of the current generation turbo-diesels in a heartbeat.  My first car was a diesel Rabbit.  Underpowered, yes, but a great little car.  I'd love a small turbo diesel in a mid-sized SUV.

My next diesel will be a KLR conversion, it would fit nicely with the Jetta TDi, F250, and JD410C backhoe ;D

Those are really cool, but the price is crazy.

I'm patient, the KLR has been relagated to a part time DS in hopes of finding the right deal on the motor.  I'd make it an oversized TW, big front and rear tires, slow and low work horse.
