Battle of the CANS!
« on: February 10, 2012, 07:52:01 PM »
O.k gang here is my dilemma, So far the accessories I have decided to buy for my C14 when I pick it up are the Corbin modular seat with a backrest and a slip on pipe. So here is the idea... There are several exhausts I like "all of them" and I was just wonderin if a little teamwork could help me cure my indecisiveness. I ask all of you fortunate enough to own a C14 with an aftermarket can or full system to post a video " or link" of one minute in length with camera placed appx 15 feet directly behind bike, 15 seconds of idle..."a few" seconds at each 1000 rpm mark and the rest just somewhat of a free for all. If it is a bad idea just tell me and I will understand, if it is a good idea lets hear them! And at the end we can all choose the winner of the battle of the Cans...what do you think? So far I am Leaning towards the Two Bros Carbon slip on but I would love to hear the rest! Maybe give the thread a day for everyone's ideas to be considered then let the Battle Of The Cans begin. What do y'all think?  Basic idea camera 15 feet behind bike, video one minute long.

Evaluating the sounds of different mufflers off the 'net makes as much sense as auditioning home speakers using your cell phone. The recording range of most mics on cameras has limited low range, plus there is no way you can get an idea of sound level. And, I have even touched on playback quality.
Along the same lines, on a trip on my Kerker 4-1 equipped Katana 1100, I was video taping the redwoods behind my bike while it was idling. I was using a HDV cam with a vive surround mic.
When I got home and played it back, it sounded totally different.

I ride with earplugs, so whatever noise the cans make is mostly for somebody else to enjoy/detest.  I don't mind aftermarket pipes that barks a bit midrange and high RPM, as long as it is relatively subdued off idle.  I prefer not **** off my neighbors, so if I can putt-putt in and out of the subdivision, it's quiet enough for me.

Frankly for me, it mostly comes down to the looks.  Just about anything is better than the bazooka.  I am partial to carbon fibre and/or Titanium, and I don't mind 2" pipe instead of the stock 2.5".  YMMV.

My two pennies.  http://areapnolimits.com/products/Slip-On-Exhaust-Kawasaki-Concours-14-2008.php I got the carbon slip-on. Love the low growl. Had Two Bros. on an SV1000s, kinda loud. Have heard the V&H and am very happy with the choice I made. ;)  All depends on what you want, Happy spending...

I'm going to need that back when you guys are done playing with it. Don't make me wait too long either because I'll get angry, you wouldn't like me when I get angry.

LOL!!!  It's that kind that is "free", looks fine, and is fully legal.  I will admit, it is kinda big, though  :)

Just get a Muzzy or an Area P can, there is a very good reason why they are the most popular choices. 8)

Probably end up with the Two Bros Carbon, but having a lot of fun looking all the choices while I patiently wait for my C14.

If you don't mind loud and obnoxious then they are the perfect choice, their build quality "especially packing" isn't up to par with some of the other offerings.

Thats some good info!! I always worried about pipes with the pop rivets in them. I do like the looks of the area p also.
