I tried beaded but people kept on asking me for a ride to the airport.....

Seriously, I have tried beaded but they just didn't work for me.  Seat comfort is so subjective and what works for someone may not work for someone else.

Cycling compression shorts. In particular Pearl Izumi Attack Shorts with Race 3-D Chamois. I've tried a lot of other cycling shorts and these have the right amount of gel and have decent contours that help the junk and the trunk... The compression also helps with the thighs. I was contemplating another seat, but these deal with the last little problem I was having... I can use 'em on my flat bar road bike too.

I've often wondered on long hot days if it would be beneficial to shave.  The only problem I can see with that is if you do, then you have to keep on doing it while on the long trip.

Shaving would work, with the issues you mentioned.  I agree with you.

For ride comfort lube any area that hits the seat.  I am telling you, I thought my buddy was crazy.  He's a big boy, and when I took his advice my comfortable time in saddle increased significantly.

You guys can either get all weird over it and make 12 yr. old jokes or be comfy.  I choose comfy.
