Motus MTS Pictures from Watkinsville 7-30-11
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:43:17 AM »
I rode up to Watkinsville this past Saturday to check out the Motus.  Nice looking bike but the pics are of the two prototypes.  They have been ridden across the US and one of the guys did about 10 drive bys so we could hear it.  It sounds like it has a dry clutch like a Duc but it doesn't and I didn't have time to ask what that noise was.

The bike fits me great, msrp is unknown for now and they expect them to be on sales mid year 2012.  The specs on the bike are pretty impressive with something like 125 ft lbs of torque.

Here is a link to the pictures I took, along with the rest of the weekend when I stayed at the Kickstand Lodge north of Robbinsville.

I've seen the photos and am mildly interested, but with only 25 dealers planned initially and the still somewhat unfinished nature of the bike, it'll be a while before I'd pull the trigger on one.

I'm mildly cynical, having seen a few too many start-up companies go belly-up just about the time they were ready for production. I also wonder how damn hot those 4 exposed exhaust pipes are.

Interesting bike, but I think I'll wait 3 to 5 years before falling in love.

And who named this thing?

This months Hot Rod Magazine(yes the car mag) has a pretty detailed article about the new V4 the Motus is using. It's worth a read.

I think it is a great looking bike, except the headlight looks similar to the busa.  The wind protection could also be better from the looks of it, but those issues can all be overlooked after hearing that V4 sing.  I would like to hear it with something beside the 2Bros exhaust.  I am betting that this bike will be up there in price with the K1600GT, so it will be several years before I could even think about purchasing one.  But I can dream can't I?

edit: add video

Here is a video about the motor.  Towards the end they show it on a dyno running open exhaust.  WOW!

Sounds like a baby V8.

Because Pratt and Miller took some of the Corvette Z06's LS7 technology to produce it.  At least that is what I read, plus Pratt and Miller has a ton of experience with the C6R, and other LSX powered race cars.

Me likey this bike. I like how the engine is exposed and can be a tweaker's heaven. I know all motorcycles can be tweaked. But this one seems to be more accessible so to say. I am more familiar with push rod engine after having tweaked old ford engines a lot. And that itself speaks to me!

I am looking forward to their production and if I do not have to sell an organ, it might get added to the stable.
