Having seen the scooters in places like Taipai or Bangalore India it is amazing to me that their life expectancy is more then 1 week.

I couldn't believe how many were actually the fault of the scooter drivers. Didn't anybody ever tell them to look around?

I second that observation.  It also looks like many scooter riders treat them like bicycles and ride on the right side of the road and try to go straight while in a turn lane.
