F1 (auto) at Circuit of the Americas
« on: August 25, 2011, 12:51:08 AM »
The Circuit of the Americas track is being built a few miles from my house outside of Austin.

Enjoy this clip of an F1 car on the track last Sunday.  The brief stint on pavement is FM 812 outside the track construction entrance which will be the primary access road to race events.

No, I didn't catch any of this un-publicized action in person  :'(

Initially proposed for June 2012, Bernie Ecclestone now proposes November 18, 2012 for the first F1 race at the track.  More time to build and more time to get cool weather.

FYI yesterday we set an all-time annual record for over 100 degree days in Austin (70) with no end to the heat and drought in sight.

Moto GP has committed to a ten-year show at the track starting in 2013.  More propaganda about the track can be found here.
