ABS Electronic bits
« on: March 31, 2018, 06:00:47 PM »
The question I would like to pose to the "Collective" is:

Can the electronics be removed from the ABS hydraulic pump for a 2008?

If so, I would like to know if anyone has tried and succeeded.  Even better, if it is possible to replace the electronics, where can I get my hands on a used assembly?

Anyone who has seen my other posts knows exactly why I am asking.   ::)

There seems to be a supply of suitable units in UK going cheap.

I read that post last year... before I had my Plasma Ball encounter.  I guess it was in the back of my mind but I couldn't recall what the outcome was.  I will post in the Wanted section to see if anyone has an '08/'09 ABS ECU wiring assembly.

Thanks for the reply.

Isn't it the ABS ECU you're after - that black plastic part of the ABS unit?  The ECU comes as part of the complete unit.

I am looking to replace the ECU associated with the ABS hydraulic pump.  I may be assuming something here since I thought I read that the connector and ECU can be removed from the body of the unit and re-connected to another one.  Thereby replacing the electronics.  That's what I'm hoping to achieve.

Tree, how did you resolve this?  As per sportytoes in the linked thread above?  Just curious.

I placed this issue on the back burner.  I'm still noodling out why my fuel level indication/warning isn't quite right.  It may end up that I will have to remove the gas tank to replace or test some things so that would be when I look into replacing the ABS pump - or at least the electronic portion.  I'm still not clear if the electronics can be replaced on the hydraulic pump or if I have to replace the whole thing.

Understood.  Sportytoes reported that he successfully swapped the ABS ECU (electronic bit) to solve his problem.  His admonition was - DO NOT remove the pump unit from the valve body, only the ECU from the opposite side of the valve body.

I do recall reading that the electronics were successfully swapped as reported in a prior post - without having to remove the ABS pump.  I have feelers out to see if anyone has a seized pump from which I could cannibalize the electronics.

Without being repetitive does anyone out there have a seized pump from which I could cannibalize the electronics?  Turn your junk into a couple of bucks.

Thanks for the followup Freddy. :)
