Hello all, I just purchased a 2009 Connie with ABS and like it very much. I have only ridden it home from the PO (120 miles) and my first impression is that it is a very sweet ride. There is one aspect that I am a little concerned about.
Welcome!
While braking I noticed that the front end of the bike dives slightly as I release the rear brake pressure only. Is that normal? I have not yet adjusted any of the suspension settings from the original settings that the PO had set up. I still have to register the bike. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You don't have linked brakes on a Gen1, so when you release the rear brake you might be squeezing the front a little more to compensate (maybe without knowing)? When braking, weight moves to the front, and the front will dive some, the more braking, the more it compresses the front suspension.
My advice, since you have a used bike, is to put all the suspension settings back to factory default and start from there to see how that feels. Who knows what the previous owner might have done (and it could be scary "wrong"). The owner's manual will tell you all those settings (which is for a 150lb person, not counting the gear).
