Looking for an Akrapovic owner
« on: September 24, 2015, 06:01:37 AM »
Hello

I have purchased an Akrapovic for my GTR in France last week

I fitted it, it sounds great but noticed some smoke leak betwen the Pipes and the Silencer.

It seems that the adjustment between the pipe and the Silencer is very wide

have a look at the video :

So, I wanted to compare my situation with another Akra owner here.

Thanks for your help

Cheers from France

Most manufacturers suggest some high-temp RTV at the joints.

I've never used any, though. Ever

If it doesn't quit after a bit, you might give that a try.

It's probably just some stuff cooking off the surface. Bikes don't smoke unless there is a problem.

I know

But besides from that I feel that there is too much mouvement between the part even when they are fitted

Did you whatched the video?

Thanks

4 years ago I had twin Akra's on my Suzuki Vstrom 1000 (beautiful sound BTW) I do remember, that those mufflers were >true< slip on's   meaning there was some very slight play where the Akra pipes fit over the bikes exhaust pipe. ( right where the springs hold the pipes together) but I don't recall if they leaked exhaust air......  would love to hear the slip on, on a connie!

my problem is between the pipe and the silencer (both parts are coming from Akra)

The akra pipe connection to the bike is not a problem

That is the problem...

I don't have any problems with my Akrapovic, but mine is a full length exhaust for a ZX14.

As for a possible fix, take the Silencer and the Pipe to and exhaust shop. They should be able to insert a mandrel into the pipe and enlarge it to where the fit is tighter.

thanks

It is funny though that out of the box both parts wont fit properly together...

I am written to Akra, but no feedback yet...

Does anyone has the slip on?
