WTT: 1972 VW Beetle for C14
« on: July 19, 2018, 06:15:14 AM »
SOLD

I'm selling some things to raise some cash to buy a Connie, and my beloved Beetle is up for sale. On the small chance that someone has a C14 and would like to trade it for a 1972 VW Beetle, I thought I'd post it here. Let me know if you're serious and I'll give the details. I'm really looking for a 2010-2012 C14, and would like to get around 5k for this to give you an idea.

Amazing. I remember the day my dad  brought home  a 1969 Beetle.   $1,900  out the door.

yeah, it was about the same in '72-'73, they couldn't give them away...
a "loaded de-lux Super Beetle" $2200 o.t.d., about the same price as a Vega...with a 4 spd, and airconditioning... and if you popped the big $$ you could get a Cosworth Vega for $3000..
asking for a trade on a '10-'12 C14, today, is kind of humorous, and provokes one to laugh, and ask.... how many miles on the Bug... as for picture, the Bug doesn't have a lot of 'shiny' surfaces ......

According to the CPI Inflation Calculator, $1,900 in 1969 equates to $13,010 in 2018...

You have no interest in this, so why do you always have to belittle people? No reason for your negative comment.

Except that you're just an ass!

look who's calling the kettle.... an ass.

so what exactly was the purpose behind YOUR post?
are you interested in trading your '09 with 200k (omg, you are a god above us mere  plebes in the bike riding world) for his bug? Like he would want it?

bite me,

frankly I was interested, not in a trade, but to find out more...
that's why I asked how many miles on it.... jerk
which still had no answer, by the way.

ever think someone may be interested in simply buying it? Like, if they knew a bit more, and wanted it, but didn't want to trade their bike for it?

go play in the cat's litterbox.
thanks for your opinions also.

oh, and popping in over here, to make smartazzed comments to me, that would get you a 'time out' or verbal reprimand on the other site, isn't too smart.
I don't care if you despise me or just have to poke the bear, take it somewhere else..
Take it for what it's worth.  mmmmkayyyyyy

to the O/p
sorry for the rudeness caused by the above person,
I am still asking the miles on the bug, feel free to p/m me if you prefer to do it on the side. Thanks

A guy from Indy came up and drove it and said he wanted it. His first car was one the same color. He's picking it up on Monday.

Then it's Connie shopping time!

Actual miles are unknown. The odometer says 96,292 but is that just 96k, or 196k? I replaced the engine around 10 years ago with a used one out of a dune buggy. I've put about 10,000 miles on it since then, but I really don't know how many it had before that. It's a strong runner though, and it has never stranded me or given me any problems. The carb is dialed in perfectly.

I'm going to miss it a bit, it was my first VW, got it in 1999. But I could use the room and since I got my Karmann Ghia (with only 61,000 miles on it!) I just don't drive it anymore. Plus I want a C14, haha.

The Ghia is a keeper. An old friend of mine I've known my whole life (his wife babysat me when I was a baby) bought it from the original owner. He put 20,000 miles on it, but then got Parkinsons and passed away about 2 years ago. Last year his wife said it was time to sell the car and I was the only person she wanted to own it. Definitely going to be keeping this one forever.

The picture alone is a keeper, much less purdy red car in front.

Congrats on the sale!  This post aint over by a long shot.  That new/used Connie will have to appear here in living color some day.  Otherwise I'll lose sleep.  No rush tho.  Just bump this thread up when you get your bike.  Good luck!

BTW MOB.  I appreciated the precise use of the flamethrower.  Surgical.  Nicely done.

thanks... kinda got me going, as I was curious, and did want to know miles, to base cost on, I was looking for a Bug last season, for driving in Ohio... but they are all high mile/and rusty here...

I prefer to use 'lasers' in lieu of flamethrowers... much better...

and cooler than just chomping a leg off...

Well all these names, and lazers and flamethrowers etc. are entertaining....however inquiring minds want to know...

...now that blue72beetle seems to be a somewhat impotent screen name....are you going to change it to red{insert last two digits of year here}ghia?...or what?
