Title: Thinking of buying a 2001 triumph sprint st
Post by: kzz1king on July 21, 2015, 02:02:44 PM
There is one locally with 8,000 miles on it (how is that possible?).  I have been hoping to replace my C1o with a used 14 but have not yet got the funding. Guy is asking $3,000 for the ST. Any thing I should be aware of with this model of bike? Hoping to go lookand ride it on Thursday.

A friend of mine had one for 88,000 trouble free miles. He sold it for $3300.  If it is in good shape and not suffering from sitting for 10 years, I would jump on it.  Keep in mind that it leans more on the sport side of sport touring and has a chain drive.

As far as the sport goes I guess I need to ride it a little to decide. The chain is going to be a bit of a hassle. I have a Z1 with a chain but it doesnt get ridden a lot. Thanks for your input.

Chain doesn't rob horse power and add weight like the drive shafts. Bikes on the sport side of the fence will give up some convenience for performance.
