Hanging idle
« on: June 14, 2018, 02:23:06 PM »
Folks I have a problem. 1991 C10. Freshly clean carbs, reinstalled and synced. Now when the bike is idling it will rev itself up to about 5k rpm and hang there. Sometimes playing with the throttle resolves this issue, sometimes not. The float bowl for my #4 carb is also leaking, but I believe that's unrelated. Any thoughts.

Sounds like maybe an airbox leak.

missing or cracked nipple plug, or vac hose on a carb, or two, loose clamps on carb boots at head,, kinked 'pull' cable shroud at adjuster by carbs, enrichener cable also, make sure it returns to off position,  fix the leaky bowl gasket a.s.a.p.
