Ohio RTE-Saturday, August 23rd
« on: August 02, 2014, 09:36:56 AM »
G&R Tavern, Waldo, Ohio. I'm headed down there the 23rd and figured I'd let everyone know as we need something to kick start Ohio events, and what better way than to meet at world famous G&R tavern that makes the best bologna sandwiches in Ohio. Its a family run, family friendly place that also happens to sell beer. It reminds me of local places my dad took me in the 60's and 70's after a ball game. The food is good and not expensive at all. Stop in and have a sandwich and meet a few folks from COG, hopefully. I'll be there around 11AM, you can eat in or take it to go and hang outside and watch downtown traffic. Hope to see lots of folks there. Not a ride, but if someone wants to make it one that's ok, terrain there is a but flat and the roads are a bit straight.

Well I got a chance to talk with my neighbor down the street that has a 95 Connie. Seems he is transitioning from a Honda Shadow, and the transition isn't going well. The turning inside the fairing is messing him up some, sitting higher, he just isn't comfortable, and the vibration at the bars is not good. I gave him all the suggestions I could, but if any money is involved, he isn't interested.
So in conclusion, this guy is not a true Connie rider, just another guy that owns one.
I guess we are a unique group , aren't we?
Ride safe all, and please ATGATT.
Greg

An intervention wouldn't help. Between his Harley wannabe and a wife that watches the pennies so close they squeak when removed from any pocket, it seems hopeless. He has only been riding 6 yrs, so the longer rides and weekends just haven't crept into his ride style yet.
I'll keep working him.
Ride safe all,
Greg

Just came through that area yesterday morning. Wish I could get back over next week. Beware of 95 south of loudonville. Fresh chip and seal for about 15 miles. Pure torture.

Enjoy. If things change I would love to slide over and visit friends in Marion and mt Gilead on the way back from Waldo

I am planning on doing my Mt. Vernon, Mohawk Dam, Warsaw, Killbuck, Glenmont, Jelloway, back to Mt. Vernon loop before heading to the tavern.  If anyone wants to join me, meet me at the UDF in Sunbury on SR 3 just South of US 36/SR 37 at 7:30 (kickstands up around 7:40).  Ride should take 3 to 3.5 hours.  Fair warning, though, I haven't been on these roads since this time last year and some of them weren't in that great of shape then, so if they haven't done any repairs, it may be an interesting ride.

Respond here if you plan to meet.  If no responses, I won't bother stopping at the UDF.

What a good time was had by all,  you missed a killer Bologna sandwich. And of course the people, lots of different riders, stories and locations. Very well rounded group, thanks Dave for getting this one organized.
Looking forward to the next one.
Some pics are coming, as soon as I find my patch cord for my camera.
Ride safe all,
Greg

Yes a good time. COG is one of the rare groups where you make friends, then don't see them for a year or more and when you see them next, you pick up right where you left off as if you saw them last week.
We all made some new friends, look for more events every month.
