O'ring stop oil ... maybe!
« on: April 09, 2013, 12:17:07 PM »
In my case I think that depends on such a small oil drip from o'ring.
Later I shall tell you if!

Excellent video MG.  If you are correct it would save a lot of messing around in the engine.  Hope you used a quality o-ring.

:goodpost:   Excellent vid, MG!  So that's another thing I need to check as we've heard of the this sensor leaking oil before...cam position sensor?  If so, I can't find it in the parts fiche..  I know it's there but I just can't locate it.  The service manual shows it with the cylinder head cover and cylinder head and camshaft.

O'ring is quality, but not with specs as the original, this was my choice, because if I'm a magician per hour!
Without the risk is not resolved I think.

I was rather hoping you used the Kwak o-ring and had a part number.....

Bullwinkle's hat gag

Instead you came up with something off the shelf as usual....

I wouldn't have used the stock ring either.  It has already proven to be too small or damaged.  Use a quality o-ring, one size bigger, and be careful with the installation, should look after the problem for good.

Maybe that's why it can't be found in the parts fiche....  There's o-rings and then there's o-rings.  This one must withstand heat and petroleum products.  Not sure I'd trust picking one up from a bin in a hardware store..  While the original one does shrink and leak a bit, it's not a catastrophic failure.  This one tends to leak (from my research) the more the bike sits.  If the bike is ridden regularly then not so much.  So I guess riding the bike is good for it and you.

without the risk is not resolved I think.

I gather that to mean that without going to the larger o-ring (risking the change) it wouldn't fix the problem.  I may be wrong.  The magician part ... I couldn't hazard a guess.

It's under the fuel injection fiche. :banghead:  Part number 92055-1639 There are two of them, the one in the front as seen in the video
and one on top of the cylinder head cover, aka valve cover.
