For those of us in the Lake Erie region who'er NOT making the ride out west for the National Rally, I've got a question;
Would you be willing to gather for a weekend outing at Lake Hope State Park just west of Athens, Ohio?
Trying to get an idea of how many would be interested in this before I proceed any further.
Oh...looks like the weekend of June 20th/21st would be optimal as far as cabin availability goes(as of today).
Arrive friday aftnoon...depart Sunday the 21st.

Hey there Dave, just sendin' feelers out now, prolly won't pull the trigger & make it a done deal until mid-late January.
If'n there's only 2-3 interested I'm probably not going thru w/ it... :-\
although this place( http://www.millstonebbq.com/ (http://www.millstonebbq.com/)) would be a good replacement ride for the hog heaven bbq ride that was cancelled last month

I am in. Got an extra room for Friday night if anyone needs one. Company coming Saturday evening. Bringing the CPAP so no worries. Put a route up from Lake Hope to McConnellsville to Beverly to The Plains and back to Lake Hope. Seems like a decent route on roads we have regularly ridden. Ribs for lunch in McConnelsville?

I might just try to coerce momma into giving me a couple day pass, if I camp, and don't spend any money....
I'll let you know right before, and maybe meet ya on the way down somewhere on the way...
I'll pull the trailer on the C14, so we'll have a nice cooler....
and propane lighting / cooking....

I may leave Wednesday and ride around for a few days using the campground as home base. Last month while attempting to knock a ball out of a tree for a couple of neighborhood kids using an extended extension ladder to hit the branch to knock it out, the forks holding the top fly disengaged and flew down and basically cut off the top of my right middle finger, smashed the right ring finger and my left index finger, it was the most painful injury I've ever sustained. The giant needle used for the nerve block before the hand surgeon went to work was in itself painful in more ways than one, it cost $341, the insurance company only paid $81 though. I'm still off work and the old fingernail just yesterday has started to come off, the skin graft took and the nail bed is intact, no loss of movement and no nerve damage and I can almost make a complete fist.

So did anybody make it? The forecast was for "inches" of rain in that part of Ohio that weekend with remnants of tropical storm Bill coming straight through that part of southern Ohio, The prospect of riding down in torrential rain, setting up in rain, sleeping wet, riding Saturday in the rain, breaking down and riding home in rain was not something I would do on purpose, I've done it when I had to, but to ride on purpose in the rain is not something I like to do at this point on my life, sorry. I really wanted to make though.

Yep, Jorge & Irene Silva, Tom & Laurie Freeman & Grandson, Dean Westerman, and me. Got wet Fri. & Sat. Sunday was nice for the ride home. Cabins were very nice for that weather. I think this was the only photo taken all weekend, by Irene.
