Thank you guys.
I got the 6 speed manual. I want to get as many mpg that I can. I believe the Passat uses a different motor oil than the Golf, Beetle, and Jetta tdis from what I have read. Due to the fluid injection it has. I still have a lot of research to do.

Did you get the sat radio with the three month free Sirius subscription?

Here's some reading for you. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=378220

I have the sirius sat. I love it. I have a lifetime on a portable radio too. After the 3 months are up I'll let it go. Right before winter I'll add it again for $25 for 6 months. That is what I did with my Charger. I really do not need it all summer long. I'll be on the bike.
Thanks for the tdi info. I have looked on there quite a bit. I should join the forum again.

Oh so, you already know the trick to getting the best price out of Sirus. Not everyone does.

Yes. I have been with Sirius since 94 or so. I paid around $425 for lifetime membership in 95.

Just got home with the new Passat. What a great feeling ride. I love the handling VW has to offer. I thought I would miss my Charger more, but now I am like, What Charger. lol. I will get to take it out tomorrow for a real ride.

Congrats! I drove a rental Passat from Munich to Neuschwanstein and back once. Amazing how nice that car is at speed on the autobahn.

Thanks Rhino! It has been a great ride so far. No regrets. It has a lot less odor from diesel than the 2003 Golf I used to own.

What do you mean by the regen?

The DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration. The Passat has this right?

That is the urea fluid spray. From what I have read it happens in 3rd or 4th gear when needed, but I have yet to feel anything out of the norm. I also only have around 400 miles on it now.

Holy crap C! You, or your wife, do a lot of driving. I only have around 12k on my Jetta now and it hasn't seen the dealer for anything. I'm hoping to keep it that way.

My Passat went in for a few things already. The heater overheated once and they could not figure out why. Trunk stopped opening up automatically and the rear door did not close properly.
A couple weeks after the dealer trip I had a huge antifreeze spill in the garage. I brought it in and they fixed something in the heater and replaced the radiator cover. It now has 4,000 miles on it. Just as my brother in law said. "It probably had an air pocket in the water liner before the thermostat and that is why the heater overheated and not the car.
Hopefully this doesn't continue.

Joel I sure as heck hope not, heck, I hope I go another 170,000 miles with less trouble than you have already had :o

C, I did a trip to Colorado Springs last year and with my retirement property 320+ miles away the Jetta gets used.  I've got 600+ miles out of a tank several times, so long as SWMBO isn't driving ;)

I'm still loving the torque and the transmission is so unbeliveable ;D

Joel, so your dealer fixed one thing and screwed up another? From what I've read, that's typical.

So for far our Jetta has been flawless except for one thing. The sunroof. When it's hot outside the sunroof squeals when it's opened or closed. I bought some 'special' VW/Audi sunroof grease for it and I need to get out there and take care of it.

Yep, the DSG is amazing!

I do love the car and the 6-speed. I think it was just a little hiccup. It'll be great if I ever drive it again. I've been on the bike everyday.

Love my TDI.  Simplicity of the ALH, torque and 700+ miles per tank.  Gotta love it.
