So my decided to put a huge mirror where TV typically goes. Kicking around some ideas on how to have TV and mirror in same location.
Idea1: Use linear actuators to raise and lower TV behind dresser. My TV is pretty slim, but 55". So will have to measure if the dresser will hide it.
Idea 2: Use a simple hoist to lower and raise TV from attic using 12v electric motor. I still got some homework to do. But trying to determine what torque and rpm I will need. I am assuming 60 lbs and a distance of approx. 6 ft. All the high torque motors I find are really low rpm - like 50 rpm. With additional gear I will use to drive the wire spool, speed will be further reduced. I found a 50 rpm, 8.5 ft lb motor. But even keeping shaft gear and spool gear the same, I am looking at 3 ft per min. I do think I will have to gear it even lower to lift the 50 or 60 lbs TV. So all the physics lovers help me do some simple calc.
