Title: DFW Tech Day/M & G 17 Sep 2011 @ Mbrew's
Post by: mbrew on September 05, 2011, 05:56:12 PM
This is posted on the other board, but I thought I would post it here too for maximum exposure. I'm hosting a tech day / meet and greet at my place on the 17th of September. I'm fortunate in that I have a fairly large shop and lot that is ideal for this type of thing. We've parked about 50 bikes on this place and they were all on concrete and able to maneuver.

The hours are from 9 AM till whenever, but if someone wants to come earlier to do a bunch of work, I'm pretty much always up and around by 7, just let me know you want to come earlier. We'll do this rain or shine and we have enough space that I don't think it would be a problem to keep all attendee's out of the rain if we needed to. If only one guy shows up, we'll still do it and have plenty to eat. For background, I'm a lifelong mechanic, but have limited motorcycle experience and particularly Concours experience. I should be able to help work through most problems and projects, but it may not be fast. I hope that others with plenty of Concours experience will attend. I have a fair amount of tools available including those necessary to change tires and that includes a manual tire machine. I am able to get rid of any fluids that may accumulate as well as tires and batteries, although both of the latter cost me to dispose of either in gas, fees or both. I ask that if you leave tires or batteries behind that you leave a few bucks with it to defer the cost of disposal. I have two aux gas tanks for running engines with the tank off and a factory manual available (C-10). There is a fair amount of hardware etc on site although my metric stuff is a bit thin at the moment. Hopefully I'll have a chance to beef it up before the date arrives. I ask that if you have a project in mind that you have the parts that you can reasonably expect to need. The closest Kaw dealer is about 15 miles away and doesn't stock much. If a bike gets stranded here for some reason, it isn't a crises and we can deal with it, but its easier if they all motivate at the end of the day. I do not have sync gauges at this time. I started to say or a chain breaker, but that shouldn't be a problem for this crowd.  Don't feel like you need to have a project to come, just visit if that's what interests you or watch the grease monkeys and check out  other folks farkles.

Lunch will be at noon and will be a simple hot dog, brat, hot link type deal. No one will need to bring anything, we do this type of thing fairly regularly and can do it pretty cheaply and easily.  Bbrew (Beth aka the Dragin Lady) and I look forward to meeting y'all. Post here if you're interested and I'll send out directions etc before the big day.
