Thanks to SisF for prodding me to get a synch tool. I got a Morgan CArbtune from Cal Sport Touring and the only thing I would add to SisF, Man of Blues and everyone else's procedures is as follows.
1. My stick showed I was close and within specs at idle, but before I started going for perfection, I ran the engine at a constant 2,000 rpm, then 3,000 and it was clear that while two and three tracked perfectly, the rods were a bit low on one and four. So I went back to idle and tweaked one to two and three to four just a tad, and then checked the tracking again at 2k and 3k and it was about perfect. Of course, the real throttle opening at 3k would be much more if the engine were under load,
but I think the tracking procedure might have some merit.
2. Definately put the burn cream on BEFORE starting the procedure. It is harder to get burns through a thick layer of cream.
