Murphs Bar Risers
« on: January 24, 2015, 03:42:42 AM »
Just purchsed an 86 C10... bit of a dunger but the price was right.... bike mechanics project, Racetech front end, ZX14 rear shock and a few other doo dads... I have just ordered some of Murphs bar risers as i found the weight on my 30 years of chucking a chainsaw wrists a bit much. His website doesn't seem to have any photos, so in the absence of any other noticeable option, I have gone in blind.

Any thoughts?

Another thing to look at is if the bars on the bike now are the stock 86 bars.

I believe the 86 had shorter bars than all the other years.

87 and up have taller bars, 1" I think.

yep, they were great , made a real difference, not enough to stop the motor blowing up though :(

On the last ride before the rings broke and went through the motor, I broke the speedo cable off, I am not sure if it was related to the risers but best check and make sure any cables have correct amount of play..

Bar Risers have nothing whatsoever to do with speedo cable length; your speedo is solidly fixed in the cowling and the bar risers attachs to the the upper triple tree..... Only issue one may encounter with risers is that the choke cable may need to be freed from any cable clamps/wire ties etc to give it a little more play in its length...
