Salt River Canyon Ride
« on: October 26, 2014, 02:07:15 PM »
Our friend 82 year old Cliff crashed on the 1st day in Oak Creek canyon (89A) He went off the road on a severe curve & his 900# road king threw him off into a ditch & landed beside him upside down! Amazingly he was not hurt bad! A spectacular end to his touring days. Some good guy stranger rode his damaged bike & let him drive his car back 150 miles home.
Otherwise it was a pretty good trip.

My parents lived near Grants NM and I went to college in Tucson AZ in the 70's. I used to drive the Salt River Canyon all the time but haven't done so for decades. I remember it as a nice drive. I going to have to go back and do it on a bike.
