And now it is snowing here.  Well, a little bit, mixed in with the rain/wind/cold.  No accumulation.

Snow? Wassat? ;D
In the UK we get maybe ½" every few years or so, but when it does fall, the roads are closed, the trains don't run, and the newspapers start talking about Arctic conditions  :loco: :banghead: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
It'd be funny as faq (censor that software!!) if it wasn't so pathetic.
I lived in northern Sweden (north of the Arctic Circle) for a few months and their trains run, their people drive to work and nobody even notices the snow.
A normal winter days is -35C/-31F, 12' of snow, and 70Mph winds creating snow drifts that bury houses, which is why all houses there have exterior doors on all 4 sides. That way ya can't get snowed in.
Down here they have NO IDEA what Arctic Conditions really means.

This was the first time that I drove the RV in a storm, I hope that it's the last.

We had to slow WAY down from the 70mph posted limit. At one point I was driving at ~45 on an overpass and the rear wheels broke loose and the RV started to drift to the left. THAT will get your attention in a hurry. It's amazing how fast your body will react to the surge of adrenaline. Pucker you right up it will.  :o

If you think that gives you the puckers, do it in a salt truck!

Having driven a DOT salt/plow truck, during the worst winter in Ohio history as a "second job";, I can safely say with 15 tons of salt and a spreader, on the big dumper, and a mega ton plow up front... there was no more COMFORTABLE vehical I have ever driven in the snow.. If it "broke traction", (which I never had happen), you were screwed... the rural area I was doing, had some 30% grades, and even then, burying that plow would stop the dumper dead in it's tracks..

Now I know why when the Zombie Appocolypse comes round, I want one...

At least if you put the salt truck in the ditch it wouldn't cost you any money.

Luckily I escaped the snow of late 1968 in the UK as my father was medivac'd back to the States from RAF Sculthorpe before that time.  We had a bus that took us to school in Lakenheath and I understand it got snow bound/stuck at some point.  Glad we weren't on it and back in the US.

With that being said, plans are being put in place to visit beginning May of 2020.  Haven't been back in over 50 years.  I hope nothing has changed.

yeah, tell that to the dude that got canned, whom I replaced for part time work from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m, it took 3 excavators, and 10 people onsite, to extract that biotch... then another crew had to come in, and remove the 8 tons of salt, because it happened in a valley with a "protected watershed"... EPA, ODOT, all sorts of fed and State boys on site.. real clusterfark....

I can't even begin to fathom what that dude was thinking, when he ran it off the road... good weed I suspect...  anyways, I earned enough $$$$ to buy a new ford plw truck, and buy a ford tractor with a snow blade and bucket, to remove snow locally when plow trucks had no place to "push" snow.... that winter. blizzard of '77-'78 in N.E Ohio.

If it never happened, I would never have learned to ski... I bought gear, and cross country skid across town, went downhill skiing 3 times a week, trained for the Olympic team, and always "loved snow"...  We have not seen epic snow like that for many years, but have had some epic "3 day events", which never totaled the 6 to 8 foot accumulations which we had back then, when the temps never rose above 30*F for 45 days..  we simply had no place to "throw" the snow.

Sheesh Jim, in 50 years everything has changed, even the language.
The area around Lakenheath/Mildenhall has changed massively with new roads, new houses, etc.

Oh, bother..  We came in through Mildenhall in the Fall and the only thing I remember of that small trip is the overabundance of Pheasants and my middle brother throwing up in the car.
