hyper lites install help
« on: January 12, 2018, 08:52:46 AM »
I hooked up my hyper lites and they flash all the time with the ignition on.
I have the red  flasher wire connected to the redt stop light wire, the black connected to black and yellow stoplight ground wire and the  flasger gray connected to the concours femal rear accessory connector.

What am I doing wrong?

Try reversing the red and black wires. Sounds like you have the tail-lite wire and the brake-lite wires reversed.

Using these instructions: http://www.hyperlites.com/instal/INSTALL%20Both%20HL%20DF%20UNIVERSAL%20all%20HL%20and%20DF%20S16%20twist%20tap.pdf

I think you have it part way correctly installed.....Black Hyperlite wire to Black w/yellow stripe C14 ground wire....red Hyperlite wire to C14 Blue or (depending on which side of the connector) Blue w/red stripe Brake wire. Hyperlite gray wire can go to C14 red or red w/Blue stripe (<--again depending on which side of connector) ...or...it (<--gray hyperlite wire) could go to the female acc lead which should be switched 12v+ just as you have it.

Kind of wordy way to say I think you have only one wire wrong...the Red Hyperlite wire needs to connect to the blue or blue w/red stripe wire.

Thanks for the replies. I hope I did not fry the flasher. THe instructions that came in the package don't have that warning!

I will try the red flasher wire with the blue brake wire when it warms up a bit outside, i
n the low 30s now  :-\.

I went by the step by step directions that came with the package but I obviously misinterpreted them. I had the C14 color wiring diagram to go by. Now looking at the chart on the same page the chart seems to conflict with the directions.

Thanks again and I apologize for all the typos on my original post. I think I will quit posting with my phone :-[

Success. Tried Martin's suggestion connecting the red Hyper Lite wire to the blue C14 wire and it works. Guess I need to put these on my three other bikes.

Sounds good, but if you aren't going to give us pictures (of all four) or even better...video....then we don't want to hear about it.
Unless you need assistance of course, then you are allowed...but pictures usually help there as well.  ;D ;)

Heres two:

My latest love 2017 950 Multistrada: Gonna be tricky to install hyper lites on this thing. Plastic has hidden fastners, have not even figured out how to get the plastic off.

 My track bike:

Everybody has here seen a thousand silver 08 Concours and my KLX is always covered in dirt so not bothering with pics of them.
