Rode up Pikes Peak with a friend today. 

70s at the bottom and 39 at the top, great day for a ride.  The Concours was flawless even to 14,000 ft  :thumbs:

Quite a bit of traffic but the scenery was sure something to see; what a great October Colorado day!

Congrats!!
PP is a Great ride!
I did it several years ago (once on a C-10, and once in a Model T Ford)...
(When I did it, it was gravel roads on the upper sections. Is it all blacktop now?)
If I get a chance, I may do it again someday! (C-14 or Model T)

PS: Try Mt Evans. It is a bit higher than PP....

Paved all the way to the gravel parking lot around the summit gift center/lunch/etc...

I'd be curious about the model T, Street rod or stock?  Heck of a fun drive either way.

1912 Touring.  All original, (including the stock 21 screaming HP engine) to do the climb, and white tires.

But we got off your post. My apologies'..
A bike trip up PP is quite an accomplishment.
Well done! Do you have any more photo's?

Has anyone else (reading this discussion), rode up PP?

Good video. 

Anyone see the dully skid marks at ~2:52?  Looks like someone had a bit of a brake lockup before the guardrail and maybe a different type of skid mark to clean up later  :yikes:

Nice! lived there for 25 years, driven up there a few times but never rode the bike up. Now that its paved all the way I should have done that.

I rode up there on my Wing when it was still gravel... I loved the funny looks of the guys riding down on BMW GS'.   8)

I can't imagine doing the gravel part on a Goldwing.  Tight corners and loose/deep pockets of gravel on such a big bike would induce major pucker factors.  I had a 1800 GL for a couple of years, great over the road bike that handled better than any bike it's size has the right to!  At the time I only had one bike and it just didn't fit my needs for a daily bike.   Should have kept it and added a sport or naked for the day to day stuff.

The Avon's I had on (Cobra's or Venom's can't remember which now) were great... just slow, steady, and deliberate.  8)  I miss that bike sometimes... it was an 06 ABS... had it 2 years, 32K good miles.  :)

I did it in 2000 on my 1982 GPz1100 and 2 more times on my 2006 C10. The last time, they were paving the road to the top. We were following the pilot truck, I missed a shift and managed to drop the bike on a hairpin, tying up traffic for at least 15 minutes. Broke my right footpeg mount and had to ride back to NY with an 8mm bolt for a footpeg. Talk about being embarrassed!

I think PP is now taller than Evans.

Better measurements was the explanation I got.

They are both tall!

The road up Evans was not as nicely maintained when I was last there.

I could see that happening, must have been an uncomfortable ride back.  Fortunately nothing broke that couldn't be band-aided to get you home.
