my other bike that............
« on: May 17, 2011, 09:45:14 PM »
.......has kept my Kawi from breaking down in >32,000 miles now (just by being parked in the garage next to it!)

I love XR's.  My first bike was a white 1998 XR100R.  perfect size for me at the time, super reliable, but with only 100cc, it got too slow within a month or two.  XR400R's/XR650L's are super reliable, as are the XR650R's.  The 650R's are hard to start though.

Good looking bike though!  Bet it's super reliable (Being a HONDA and an XR...)   :)

Oh well!  Honda is the biggest Japanese (possibly world?)motorcycle company and Kawasaki is the smallest of the Japanese manufacturers.

So if you want to make this a conflict over size...

I own the Euro version of the XR650L - the NX650 Dominator.  It's my daily commuter ride and I love it. does occasional off roading as well, but is really just a great urban assault vehicle here in Italy.

I seem to like Honda for their dirt bikes and Kawasaki for their street bikes.  It just seems right that way.

you know, the simplier the bike is, the more enjoyable it becomes:

1. no having to wear 1-piece leathers and show how low you can go on a sportbike
2. don't have to worry about being out-gadgetized or out-iron-butted like on a tourer
3. harley davidson. need i say more?

while in italy, i bought another guy's xr-125 (?) while waiting for my '91 zx-6 to get to port. single cylinder, 125cc, about 70mph, handgrips about 5' apart...one of most fun bikes i've owned.

sigh...fun times.

I just rode my (uncorked, of course) '05 XR650R this weekend after a hiatus of bike issues.  Cleaned the carb out and she ripped my arms off.

Just got a shot in the butt though, my right leg/butt feel all weird.

awesome!

I feel like Johnny Campbell  on that thing! (Except he has an extra 8 ponies and a pit crew to start his bike at pit stops for him.)
Stock 650R's are weak compared to when you uncork them.  They gain 10-12 ponies and don't overheat after you put the right baffle, intake, jets and filters on.   :)

It's the most wheelie prone bike I know of.  :D
