Attaching Fenda Extenda

What glue should I use for the fender add on. I read on the other forum that ABS glue is preferred. Is the Fenda Extenda ABS plastic? Will ABS glue work if it's not? I don't want to use screws.

If you don't want to use the screws, the only thing that will adhere plastic to plastic is a good, low heat 2 part epoxy. Just don't over load it. it creats heat when it cures, a little goes a long way.

No need for anything other than ABS glue.   Your  fender and the fender extender are made of ABS.  Sand both sides to rough it up a little  and glue them together and they will be as one forever.

58,000 miles on the Connie, 27,000 miles on the Wee-Strom.  ABS glue on both.  Still solid.

I bought Oatey ABS Cement at my local hardware store (in the pipe section), sanded the appropriate mating surfaces, applied the Cement, attached the extender to the fender, and held it in place with a small clamp just for kicks until the glue set.  Hasn't fallen off since.

It is recommended to make sure you get ABS specific cement, not the combination cement (which makes sense to me).  The cement may also come in handy if you have any mishaps down the road involving your fairing pieces...

3M Acrylic Molding Tape, worked well for the GPS mount too.

Remove the fender, and just use ABS glue as others have stated. Clean well, apply the glue both sides and use clamps. That thing aint coming off.

Now a dumb question: will the fender come off without removing the front wheel? I never tried it, but if I have to, no biggie.

Sure does. 4 bolts  on the inside of the fender and  the plastic bracket that guides the  speedometer cable.

If I'm remembering correctly, only use ABS BLACK
I blocked and clamped, let it sit over night, and all is well

I roughed up the corresponding fender surface as well as the exnder with 120 sandpaper and used ABS glue as well. Rock solid three years later.

I cleaned both surfaces and used 3M Trim Adhesive glue.  Still there 25k or so later.

ABS specific glue, ( not ABS combo glue) from Home Depot, or Lowes, works well, along with drilling 2 small #6 screw holes to insure it's adhesion, after abrading and cleaning both mating surfaces well, using a solvent like BrakeKleen.
second alternative is strips of 3M double sided black trim strip mounting tape, done in multiple strips, at least 4 or five, side to side, and clamped with wood blocks overnight to insure complete adhesion and compression....

On a C-10? No need to remove tire in any way, shape, or form.


Reading the comments, what some fail to mention is ABS cement doesn't stick to paint very well, if at all. You'll need to scratch up the inside of the fender till the paint is off. It may not look black, even though ABS is generally black, rather a shade of grey.


Don't worry about the lack of paint, the fender won't rust
