I'm watching the Endeavour detective series (Inspector Morse as a young detective constable) on Masterpiece Theatre.  It takes place in early 60's Oxford.  The music is phenomenal as is the cinematography (typical of British TV shows).  It's really making me nostalgic for the mother country as I was there during that time period as a kid at RAF Upper Heyford.  I keep expecting to see contrails and hear the jet noise of SAC Reflex B-47s stationed there during the height of the Cold War.  Heck, I may have even been to Oxford at that time (if so, I don't remember it, unfortunately).  They mentioned Biscester last night.  We used to go there for shopping and to catch the train to Ipswich and London.  Sigh....

I was working in the yard yesterday and I found a 1875 Indian Head penny. It's of no great value but it's a cool find none the less.    :)

The one I found doesn't look anywhere near as good as this but you get the idea.

My advice....if you found that, the pot of gold could be very nearby.  Get yourself a metal detector and start digging up your yard.

My wife suggested that as a retirement hobby.

With all the money you'll find, you can afford to not wear socks!

That name has been taken.  There can be no other 'Poke'.  I won't allow it.

Why is it that so many companies are touting their use of sea salt these days, as if it's healthier? Doesn't all salt come from the sea?

I use both sea and Kosher salts...but yes, you're right, they all came from a sea or ocean at some point before they reached the shaker.

I know of the salt mines but originally, that salt came from a ocean. All salt is sea salt.

I took a look at that link and the very first sentence needs some work.

"Salt is one of the few useful and abundant minerals on earth."

So there are only a few useful minerals on earth?     :o

Did you know that under the city of Detroit (and the great lakes) is one of the largest, if not THE largest, salt deposits in the world?
