Trunk/Top Case
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:45:54 AM »
Hey guys, I need to add a trunk (top case) to my 2012 concours and want to make sure I get one that can carry plenty and makes the ride for the passenger nice and comfy. What, in your opinions, is the best for the concours in terms of comfort and storage...oh, and looks, OF COURSE!

I saw the trunk that Corbin sells for almost $1000.00 (which I like the look of) but was wondering what else was out there and what you guys are using for your bike. Do any of you have experience with the trunk form Corbin, the large one with the small armrests?

Thanks!

It is big and heavy, will carry no more than an E55, permanent bolt on mount, and customer service hit and miss.  I personally would spend half and get an E55, Admore kit, and Phil's rack.  Do a search, I posted a lot of info on it including mods.

Does that E55 come in colors to match the bike? I have the Candy Arabian Red.

Not that I know of, that is a very unique color.  They sell lids that are paintable.

Would you suggest the black trunk for my bike color? Sorry to ask such a question but I have yet to see one on a bike (in person).

Had a Corbin on my 2010 and now one on my 2012 in Candy Arabian Red.  Expensive but worth it because my wife loves it. If she is comfortable,  she rides with me. Neff said.

E55 Maxia if you look for the biggest volume, Givi V47NNT if you look for the best looking trunk. Of course only if you have the right (black) color  ;D

With the Corbin, is it easy to assemble/remove when needed? I like the look of it and the fact that it somes in the same color as the bike. Hows the quality of that trunk and, if you don't mind my asking, what'd you pay for it?

Might be the best looking trunk but it doesn't improve that bikes looks any.  :)

I've got exactly the same trunk 8 years ago, very cheap in eBay, and have been passing it from bike to bike. First a Bandit 600, then an R1200RT, and now the 1400GTR. I almost wished it broke so I can grab that V47  ;)

Here is my 2010 with the Givi Maxia E55NT with the Admore Light kit and back rest.  Wife loves the back rest.

And here is a video of the Admore light kit.

about 15 or 20 years ago the USS Kitty Hawk dropped anchor a couple of km from the shore, basically in front of my door, down in Argentina.
I just recalled that impressive sight looking at your bike, ljcorby  ;)

Would you guys that have the extra lights please show everyone how you handled the electrical hook-up??  Especially if you did it without using the socket in the rack.
