Still my plane. If only because she turns heads.

I had to hold short on taxi at Colorado Springs to allow a FA-18 to taxi also. He eyed my plane about as long as I eyed his/hers. And we both gave each other a 30 second thumbs up.

Link and vid are on FakeBook, but *should* be publicly viewable.

Notice the star on the tail? Its red as in Russian. They have a squadron painted in Russian colors for training.
I have been up close to them.

F4 Phantom flying between the hangers at RAF St Athan.

Not my picture but I did witness this on more than one occasion during the mid to late 80's, it was a bit of a tradition to do it after a either a successful post major overhaul test flight or on the delivery flight back to the squadron

I love these kinds of pics. Not some professional photog getting just the right shot but more of a candid shot. More a sense of history.

Saw the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels in Phantoms back in high school. Big, loud, impressive airplanes. They leave an impression.

LOVE that pic of the 38's on the deck! Once saw Lefty Gardner do that with "White Lightning" (now the Red Bull P-38) at Lakeway airpark in Texas. He used to be my brother's neighbor there and I had a chance to sit in the cockpit.

Looks like a bit of turbulence would break it in half.

I agree.  I guess we'll have to see if it works or not.  I hope it does simply because of the amount of money, time and effort they've put into it.

Burt Rutan made this work. If your going to trust any aircraft designer these days, Burt Rutan is the man!

Kind of fugly but damn, that is one impressive airplane.

We saw this on the ramp when we were on our way to Barstow on 58 in early June. At first I thought it was Spaceship One, but now I see it was the Stratolaunch aircraft.

Can't find any schedule for first flight. I would sure like to see that.

I'm certainly no engineer of any kind, and I have much respect for Rutan...but...it sure seems that just the thinnest of a connecting strut at the rear
could eliminate a lot of potential stress on that center section of wing.
