Rear Coupling
« on: June 18, 2012, 04:00:37 PM »
Hello,

I am leaving on a trip in a couple of days, so I was checking over the bike. I pulled the rear wheel, the clip, and the coupling. The coupling is shot! It was dry and I don't know why. I have lubed it at least once per year. Anyway, does anyone know of a cheap and fast place to get a replacement. I am open to good condition used ones as well. Thanks in advance.

  Try http://pinwallcycle.com/  suburb of Cleveland

Stan Visser ( Stasch on the forum ) might have a better conditioned one also.

I got a new coupling, installed it, and I am good to go for my trip tomorrow. For those of you in Michigan or the Midwest you should check out Slicks Salvage. http://www.slickssalvage.com/
They gave me a great price on a low mileage rear wheel coupling and they have a great selection of other parts. I ended up buying something for my KLR as well. On the way out the door I was asked what size t shirt I wear. When I answered they gave me a Slicks Salvage t shirt for free, and it is a nice looking shirt. The guy that runs the place also rides a C10.

Good news about Slicks!  Dealt w/ them yrs. ago & they tend not to answer the phones sometimes cause they're busy. At least it saved your trip!
