Title: possible new owner
Post by: 20/20 on January 22, 2014, 06:38:18 PM
hello folks, I'm looking at an 06 40k on it. I'm not new to bikes, been ridding for 35+ yrs. I do 95% mechanical work on all my own equipment(anything from lawn mowers all the way up to excavators). I don't mind getting dirty and enjoy it when I know what is going on. Like I wrote I've been ridding for years and have owned and worked on many different bikes.  I have however never been around the concours is there anything I should look for out of the ordinary? Thanks for any info.

Hydrolock is about the worst thing but can be avoided. Other than that the bike will easily run 100,000 miles with decent maintainence . Most will last well over that.

That's what I figure, seems like a real nice machine. I'm somewhat old school and can't really get comfortable on my cruiser style bike. I'd rather sit straight up, feet down.  I was looking at  goldwing's when I came across the concours, goldwing's are nice but I think the concours fit my style better, time will tell.

If that's your riding style you would probably need these items. Stock setup is forward lean and knees up a little higher than is comfortable.

It has the knee savers with it, have to install. I'll probably get the risers this summer

Can we assume you have the Concours? Keep us updated. Some of us don't have much to do other than the COG forum.  :loco:

Elvin315;  Your write up was one of the 1st things I noticed, and read, before taking a serious interest in the concours. It's a great write up with lots of info, and I for 1 appreciate the time you took to write it. Thank you  8)
