Fork Springs
« on: February 05, 2017, 09:22:14 AM »
Does anyone make a heavier fork spring than the 1.2kg/mm stockers? Im about to service my forks and thought since im in there i'd do some upgrades. Racetech recommends 1.4kg/mm springs for a rider my weight but does not sell them. Anyone know of any out there?

I've actually have already lost 65 lbs in the last 11 months. But currently I'm still 240lbs with gear on.

It was.  I'm in the same boat.

I find humor, sarcasm, and cynicism in everything.   Whether called or not called for and will continue to do so.

No insult taken I actually tried to post another comment and crack a joke back but the site kept crashing on me earlier.

I looked at the traxxion site and found the springs but how the heck do you figure out which one you need?

There is a spring rate calculator on the racetech page. I'd post a link but I'm on my phone right now and I'm pretty sure it requires a flash player.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that.  Here's what came up:

1.367kg/mm  Then they give you all kinds of options but not a spring per se..

Have you changed your fork fluid lately? Ok, I see you're getting ready to do that.  I've found that dirty fluid makes the suspension harsher.  It did with mine.  Course if you want it harsher then you could use the next weight up oil or play with the levels.
What symptoms are you having with the bike that makes you think the suspension needs to be beefed up?
Where are the adjustments set on the front?

BTW, systems are back up and nominal.  Insult away...  If it goes down again when you try to insult me....what can I say....the system is in self preservation mode.

I just know I have her cracked down as tight as she will go and I keep a zip tie on my fork tube and they still bottom out. Being a 2008 and still have the original fluid in there I'm definitely going to change that out but while I have it apart I just want to do anything I can that will improve the handling instead of having to do it again later. So I'm just looking at what my options are. Not necessarily dissatisfied with the way handles but just curious if it could be better.

It can always be better.  I think that GPINK has a good idea (much as I hate to admit it) about calling Traxxion and talking to them before you do anything.  May be worth it to have them R&R your forks.  I'm not bottoming out (easy boys) on mine....yet.
