Jan. 1st. 2013 Ohio Polar Ride
« on: December 02, 2012, 06:29:09 PM »
Well it is that time of year again, no, not X-Mas or New Years, but the Ohio Polar Ride.
10, 11 and 12 were wash outs. So barring we all don't drift into oblivion on Dec. 21st, I will try to host a Polar Ride, again.
My usual criteria is no Ice on the roads, cold is what you make of it, dry is preferred, sunny and unseasonably warm is a gift. I will do a warm lunch and fluids, no alcohol. We will keep it on the more traveled roads, they tend to be cleaner, and not much more then 100 to 150 miles, if possible.
My address and map is in my profile, I'll keep this updated as the big day gets closer.
Post here if you might like to join the fun, if I'm making food a number would be helpful.
Well give it some thought, everyone ride safe and ATGATT please.
Greg

Hey there Eric, good meeting you also, you have mail.
Pokey, in 2010 it snowed, in 2011 no one showed, and 2012 it was forcast for rain, but it didn't do a damn thing till evening. Hoping this one is a better one, roads might be clear if armageden happens on the 21st.
Ride safe all,
Greg

A few extended weather portals are predicting a warm end of the month, and below seasonal precip. Right now, the 1st. is predicted to be mid to high 50's, and dry. And the 3 days previous are dry also, so now salt or gravel to deal with.
Lets ride.

Well those long range predictions look like they just aren't going to happen.
With the snow coming into the Ohio valley at the end of this week, roads will be tough enough for cars, let alone our beloved Connies.
I'll keep this updated for some of you late lookers, but don't feel bad planning something else for that first day of 2013.
Ride safe all,
greg

Well,
With Mother Nature doing her thing here in the Ohio Valley, Riding a bike is just not possible. The snow, the salt, the sand, oh yea, the ice, do the math.
This ride is officially "Canceled" for the first day of our new year.
So if you get to ride, please be safe, and please gear-up.
Everyone take care, and have a happy and safe New Year.
Greg
