Michelin Pilot Road 2, 18" front.
« on: October 05, 2012, 05:06:55 AM »
Now that my 110/80-18 Metzler Z6 needs replacing after only 8k miles (down to 1mm on the centre), I've decided to fit a Michelin PR2 to the front of my 06. As the PR2 is dual compound, hopefully it will compliment the Azaro dual compound on the rear.

After having two Avon Storms on the front (both gave head shake on deceleration) and then the Mez Z6, I figured I needed the mileage of a Storm (around 12-15k miles) and the stickiness of the Mez Z6. The PR2 has had good reports here OTP and I really couldn't justify the extra $30 for a PR3. The PR2 was freshly moulded in week 37 of this year, so hasn't been sitting around for that long.

I'll let you know how the PR2 performs as, having searched on here, couldn't really find anyone who'd tried the PR2.

Let me know how it works for you Paul.
I have been thinking of the PR3 front for "Otto" to go with the Azaro rear.
My last combination of a Z6 & AV46 was good but my experiences with the PR3 on the 1400 make me think that the PR3 is the tyre for me.
I do ride in the wet a lot, as do we all this year in the UK.  >:(

Have a 120/70R18 Michelin Pilot Road II radial on the front, in combination with a 150/80-16 Michelin Commander bias on the back. Run them at 36 psi front, 38 rear.

Both pretty good so far, front has 7300 km and rear 9300 km, wearing evenly.

PR-2 has worked much better than my storm fronts.
PR-2's -----No head shake.....My storms were an issue from begining.
IMHO the storm would be fine if Connie was lighter,,,, yet the Azzaro is great rear.
Any  tire that doesn't create head shake gets my vote!

I run Pilot Roads on my Triumph -- stick like glue on wet roads, including paint stripes.
