Title: Fellow Member in accident.
Post by: Broz on January 23, 2013, 06:07:23 PM
Gents,
About a week ago I purchased a top case off "Damaged Goods" here on the forum.  Was waiting for shipment and got a call from his wife apologizing for him not being able to ship it right away.  Last Thursday he was slammed into from behind while on his new FZ1.  He had only been on it for 3 miles, was waiting to turn onto his street when a lady hit him going about 55 MPH.  The previous Tuesday he totaled his Concours.  He said he "had to lay it down or hit someone."  He said he was fine because he was ATTGATT.

His name is Jody he is 37 years old,(Atlanta Georgia area) he fortunately had no head injuries but is pretty badly broken waist down.  Broken fibula and tibia in one leg, femur in the other along with knee cap, shattered ball socket in the hip along with pelvis.  He sent me some pictures of his wounds, I will spare you guys those.  Apparently he has had 3 surgeries, and will not be able to stand up and walk for at least 6 weeks.  He wanted to let everyone know to get the word out for everyones safety.  I'm hoping to not start some crazy thread here pointing blame just letting you all know about a fellow member that could use your prayers.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind well wishes either.

So horrible. I hate that feeling when you are stopped at a light or pedestrians crossing on a right turn and you know cars could be flying up to you from behind.
I hope you heal up well and fast.

That blows. Those injuries will be with him forever.  I have had some injuries/claims and because of insurance and me doing the bike repair work myself, I made money on the deal. I like money, but I would always have rather not had it happen.

I wish the guy the best.

The Atlanta GA area is insane!  I've seen people take right turns from the left lane and left turns from the right lane.  Don't get in the way of a working Mom rushing to get home and feed the family.  I don't think I would ride there if I lived there.
I'd have to trailer the bike out of town.

Hope the recovery goes well and you get the most aggressive lawyer you can find.  I guess Damaged Goods was a prophetic name or is there a history here.
