The Mule

As the better half will agree, I am not a spontaneous buyer. BUT when a friend was selling a '99 BMW F-650 last fall I kicked myself over the winter for not buying it. The last of the carborated Rotax built singles, it had been farkled up and had the steering head bearings replaced (common failure). Imagine my surprise when she called me to preform a spring test run before selling it in March. I did a shake down ride and bought it on the spot.
Wonky looking, great to work on and an absolute riot to ride. At 240 lbs. lighter than the C-14 it carves up roads like a Ginsu knife. AND can go off roading a bit. I did lower the gearing one tooth up front per the chain gang .com.
Added bonus: everyone thinks it's a twin, dual carbs, dual pipes, dual spark.
Here's a shot with some camping gear loaded up. It's true what they say, it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.
