What do ya'll think of the BMW 1600
« on: September 08, 2012, 02:03:38 PM »
I really don't care, I just started this to **** off Jim  :o

But to make the thread valid and fun, why not compare the two?  Instead of this becoming a pissing contest, how about an honest and objective comparison.  What do ya'll think are the pro's and cons of the the two bikes?  I will admit that I have hung out on their forum a little as I do most new bikes that come out that might be competitors.

My take is that it's a fine touring bike, has a lot of useful features and is a very capable bike, but probably not as close to the sport end of a "sport touring" bike as I'd like.

Thoughts?

Wow, you really are sensitive.  I thought you said we could post it there if it were a comparison to the Concours.  >:(

Speaking of BMWs, anyone watching the PGA match going on?  Tiger just hit a great shot.

Grrrrrr.  ;)   There have been other threads associated with this.  You're lucky you got me before I started drinking.  I'll see if I can find them.  And yes, I did say that but I'm fickle and have a short memory.

Friend of mine with a C14 spent quite a bit of time on a new 1600, he flogged it and rode it in all manners. Says is a pretty nice machine, but wouldn't take it over a C14.

Speaking of drinking, it's almost Margarita time here in Houston.

Did you mean a seance of humor?

I parked next to red one when I was at the top of Independence Pass last weekend. Nice red color and not as bulky looking as I thought it would be. Not in my future though -- I have owned two others and I don't need any more of the obscene maintenance expenses.

My name is Jeff and I'm currently head over heels in lust with the K1600GT. I'm so ashamed.

Go buy one, I am sure you will regret it much sooner than later.

And they have a bunch of money to help them get over not having a cruise control.

We have a really good BMW dealer here in Fredericksburg, VA (Mortons).  I like them quite a bit as I buy Sport Touring doodads there.  Good people and if I were to ever buy a BMW bike (not bloody likely), I'd buy it from them.

The BMW demo truck is going to be at Grassroots BMW about an hour from me next weekend. I think I'll go see if they will give me a nine year, unlimited mileage warranty on a new Beemer.
