I was raised in a cult. One who named such dates. 1974 in prophecy came and went. The cult members were blamed for "not being ready" I read one story about a young couple who buy the 21st of May crap, they actually sold everything. Rented an apartment and budgeted every dime so they will be completely out of cash and belongings on the 21st. It's just sad to me. I was raised to not think for myself and to believe everything the crazy prophet said. It takes a long damn time to get over this kind of stuff and sometimes some never do. My mother and my sister do not speak to me because they believe a date namer and I do not believe anyone. I have not seen my sis, mom or 4 nieces and nephews in over 5 years. All because of these same kind of people. Some times when you teach 4 year olds something is real, it is hard for the grown 4 year old to over come that.

Appears I am more religious than most of you as I do believe in Jesus. I may not make fun myself about God, but I will not judge anyone else that does. I would not hate someone just because that person do not have the same belief as I do, as long as he/she is a stand up & honest person. It is sad that your mom and sis did that to you just because you exercised your own choice (right, wrong or indifferent). Where is the love and forgiveness...I do not see anything about Christ in that...

It takes a special mentality to buy some of the stuff a cult sells. Mostly based in fear for yourself and what will happen to you if you don't do what your told. Not Love for anyone else.  They were told to cut off contact with me... The story is long and difficult to explain and is based on the date I was "baptised" in relationship to their cult leaders sons date of baptism.... but, they really believe if they don't do what the man tells them, they will not be counted as the select few when the time comes. Your right, SAD. There are more of these types of "end of days" Churches than most people hear about. Most just go unnoticed.

I don't know what I would do if my sister was in a cult and had to cut off all contact with me.  I'd feel horrible.
