The hardware store here was goat rodeo...I was one of the participants.  Got 2-cycle oil, filled up my gas can, and I'm as 'ready' as I'm gonna be.  Got all the deck furniture tied down, patio furniture moved into the garage or on the covered deck.  All the flyables taken off the house.  The grill goes in next and the culvert cleaned out.  Then I'm drinking...  Oh, got the barometer set as well to see how much it drops.  Sitting at about 30 for now.  Not much wind yet to speak of.

29.7 here, and the wood stove is fired up and ready for any flat bottom pan/kettle. Snow remaining from the recent snow dump, so am set for ice (Martini (bottled cocktail onion only, unfortunately) , G&T, lime slush with tequila and a filbert...)

29.7   Still have electric and cable.  The big rain is getting closer.  All mass transportation is shutting down.  No VRE commuter train and Metro.  County govts and schools are closed.  Directv (yes, I still have it) is still operational.  I can't believe that but I've been storing programs for several days to watch.  Won't help much if/when we lose power.  I've got the laptop plugged into an Uninterruptable Power Supply.

I've got to Richmond for a certification test this morning.  Leaving about 830.  So far Prometric in Richmond is still open according to their site.  My wife's work appears to be open still.

About a half hour if I'm lucky...  I need to change the power settings.  Thanks for the reminder.  The only other things attached are the cable modem and router.

I work about 20 miles outside of DC and I am not sure why my company is even open today.  I work in our accounting department so I can still work, but as far as the actual field work, we should have called all of our techs and had them stay home.  None of our customers are in today as most are government or very closely related to government.  My kids had teh day off from school and I should have just stayed home with them.

All around NY's Capital District schools are closed or closing early.  I think they're in panic mode since Irene.  There's nothing more than some light rain coming our way until much later.
