I got the total costs yesterday for my ear surgery and related stuff. ~$25k. I'm actually surprised that it didn't cost more than that.

After my health insurance pays their share, my out of pocket expense is under $200. Not bad and I can hear very well now from my 'bad' ear.    :)

You should have waited until Obama Care was in full stride.  Your surgery would have been FREE  :o

I had my post-op appointment with my ear surgeon yesterday. He removed the packing from my ear and tested my hearing. The packing removal wasn't as much fun as you'd think...    :o

Anyway, my hearing is VERY much improved! 30 to 40 dB! If you don't know, the dB scale is logarithmic and a 40 dB increase is HUGE!

The doc has cleared me to resume my normal activities. ;D

After I explained to him that I'll be retiring at the end of the year and that I have a BUNCH of sick leave that I have to use or lose. He recommended that I take one more week off. He even faxed this order to my department.     ;)

That Doc's a keeper! I don't suppose he could write you a prescription for ear plugs so you can get some
really nice ones on your insurance's tab?   :thumbs:
